As you all know from previous posts I think skincare is such an important part of the daily routine of any woman, no matter what age. I have always looked after my skin. I cleanse, tone and moisturise twice a day and I always remove my makeup (even after a night out!)
I have paid a lot for my skincare products over the years and so about 3 months ago I went on a mission to look for a good drugstore skincare brand with products that actually worked. I found a range in Superdrug called ‘B’. Skincare.
There were a lot of things that attracted me to this brand. Firstly, they are cruelty free and vegan, which is really positive. Secondly, They are really well priced and Superdrug often has offers such as buy one get on free or half price. Finally, they are broken down in to phases depending on your age. I often struggle to understand which product would be best for me at my age and with my skin type but this system makes it so easy to follow and means there really are products for everyone no matter what age you are.
They look at the theory that prevention is better than cure so encourage you to start using skincare products from a young age.
Phase 1: for your late 20s and 30s
Phase 2: from your late 30s
Phase 3: from your late 40s
Phase 4: for your late 50s, 60s and beyond
Once you work out your phase, it is really easy to pick out suitable products as they are all packaged with the phase written on the box. Plus, there are lots of products within all phases. I am in the phase 2 bracket. Phase 2 focuses on making your skin radiant and help prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles.
I decided to buy the Day Cream and Night cream as they were on offer buy one get one free.
Radiant Day Cream – Phase 2, 50ml
£10.99 from www.superdrug.com
Claims to:
– Fight against the visible effects of ageing
– Firms and de-stresses the skin
– Reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles
– Increases hydration after just one day’s wear
– It also has hyaluronic Acid to help lock in moisture and plump the skin.
– Helps boost radiance.
– Protects with SPF 15 and UVA filters.
My Verdict:
This is a really creamy white mixture that applies to the skin lovely. I have combination skin and it hydrates my dry areas and yet doesn’t make my oily areas greasy. My skin stays balanced all day. I have been looking for a good day cream for a long time now, and I am so impressed with this. I feel it really has made my skin look more radiant and the hyaluronic acid has locked in moisture to my skin leaving it feel amazing.
Radiant Night Cream – Phase 2, 50ml
£11.99 from www.superdrug.com
Claims to:
– Increases hydration just one night’s wear
– Firms, smoothes and restore elasticity.
– Reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles
– Refines skin with natural fruit acids that sweep away dull skin.
– Brightens skin and fades away age spots.
My Verdict:
I love this night cream. It has a thick consistency and I don’t need to apply much as it spreads evenly across the skin. My face feels great going to bed and in the morning it still looks fine, not greasy at all. It contains Hyaluronic Acid and Shea Butter, which is great for plumping the skin, and keeping it moisturised. This works so well with the day cream.
After using these moisturisers for 2 months I was so impressed I decided to buy the serum and eye cream to try. I had already noticed such a difference with my skin from the day and night cream that I was intrigued to see how the other products held up too. My fine lines on my forehead have reduced significantly with some barely showing and my skin just feels great.
Radiant Rejuvenating Serum – Phase 2, 30ml
£12.99 from www.superdrug.com
Claims to:
– Increase hydration after one day’s wear
– Has encapsulated time-release Hyaluronic Acid to help plump fine lines.
– Regain supple and smooth skin and help restore elasticity and smoothness.
– Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles Perfects with
– Help even skin tone and calm skin
My Verdict:
I have been using this product for a month and feel it works well. I have noticed a big difference with my skin. The serum is a light creamy consistency. I use about a peas size amount and massage it into my skin paying extra attention to areas where fine lines can appear such as my forehead. It leaves my skin hydrated and is not greasy at all. My skin maintains this throughout the day too. I think this is excellent value for money as serums can be very expensive.
Radiant Eye Cream – Phase 2, 15ml
£10.99 from www.superdrug.com
Claims to:
– De-stress skin and helps boost radiance.
– Increases hydration after just one day’s wear
– Lock in moisture and plump the skin
– Reduce the appearance of tiredness and puffiness leaving your eye area feeling firmer and more youthful
– Firms, smoothes and help restore elasticity
– Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
My Verdict:
I am still not won over on eye creams in general if I’m honest. I am not convinced how much impact they actually have. I have tried lots and never really see a huge difference with regards to reducing fine lines around my eyes. However, this cream does moisturise my eye area and makes it feel fresh and de-stressed which I like. It has also brightened my eye area.
Overall conclusion:
I LOVE this skincare range and can see myself using it for a very long time. I am impressed with all the products, especially the day and night cream. Using these products as part of my daily routine for the past 3 months has resulted in my skin looking a lot better. It is brighter, de-stressed and fresh. It stays balanced all day but overall it has reduced the fine lines are my forehead significantly which is amazing. I like the fact that as I grow older my skincare can work through the phases allowing the products to adapt to my changing skin. There is also a makeup range and a men’s skincare range in the B. range.
