Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit Review

I have been dying to try a lip kit but at £25.00 I couldn’t bring myself to fork out for a Kylie Jenner one, so I was super excited when I spotted the new Barry M Matte Me Up Lip Kit on a recent Pixiwoo tutorial.

It is available in 3 shades: Go to Nude, Pose Pink and Runway Berry. I chose the colour Go to Nude as I don’t really have many nude colours. In each box are a lip liner and a matte lip paint. Be careful when choosing as I found the colours are not truly represented by the box colour.

Firstly, I applied them as directed in the instructions; line the lip with the lip liner then fill in with the lip paint. It left a really obvious line around my lips as the liner is much darker than the lip paint. So I rubbed it off and applied the lip all over first and then added a coat of lip paint over the top. I preferred this method as it blended better.

The liner is nice, a good neutral colour that could be worn with lots of different shades of lipstick and gloss. It was a bit dry when I applied it to my whole lip, but not as dry as other liners I have tried.

The Lip paint applies lovely. It feels really buttery on the lips. It is really glossy at first but then dries matte. Together they look really nice and stay put for a long time. When I come to take my makeup off after a couple of hours I struggled getting them off with my micellar water, showing the staying power!

Makeup free I’m afraid! Just wanted to show you all the lipstick.

I wasn’t sure at first with this overall look as the finish is very bold and this particular shade is very nude with no colour pigment in it. I’m sure this was the correct shade for me, as I tend to pick nude shades with a hint of pink in, as my skin is fair/medium. However, I really love the finish of this lip kit. I think the staying power is better than I have ever seen with a nude lip. I am going to keep wearing it and see if I get use to the colour. It may just be strange for me, as I don’t wear many nude shades. I would recommend these lip kits though, the colour payoff and durability is fantastic. They also don’t leave the lip feeling dry like many matte lipsticks.
