Face oils have been a growing trend recently with many bloggers and beauty lovers trying different oils and documenting their success online.
Following the hype, I have been intrigued to try a face oil for myself and see what effect it has on the overall appearance of my skin. With perfect timing, I was sent a bottle of Wikaniko’s Moringa Oil to try. So for the past two weeks I have been using the oil twice a day after cleansing and toning, before I add my moisturiser.
I have combination skin, with dry areas around my face and an oily T-zone. I was dubious with the name having the dreaded word ‘OIL’ in it as it makes me think that adding oil to my oily T-zone will just exaggerate these areas. After the two weeks I have been pleasantly surprised.
I had not heard of Moringa Oil before, so after receiving the oil I researched the product. Moringa is a tree originating from India. Moringa oil is extracted from the leaves of the Moringa tree and is excellent for anti-ageing, smoothing the skin, hydrating and moisturising. It is usually grown and sourced in the Far East but recent studies have shown that pollution and other nasty things often contaminate products from this area.
Wikaniko grow their Moringa trees on a small farm in Spain. They use the farm as an educational experience to learn about the full properties of the oil, which I think is great. The Moringa is self-fertilising too and all processes are carried out by hand. Making the product very organic and natural which is promising as too many products are still full of chemicals and things we are not aware of.
Wikaniko Moringa Oil has lots of natural goodness and claims to:
- Rejuvenate dull, tired and aging skin.
- Help fight free radical damage that can cause skin tissue damage and lead to the formation of wrinkles.
- Improve the appearance of wrinkles and prevents sagging of facial muscles and promote cell growth and delay damage and destruction of skin tissues.
- Help clear blackheads and pimples and when used regularly help prevent the reoccurrence of blemishes.
- Help minimize dark spots from acne and hyper-pigmentation.
What I really like is that the Moringa Oil has other properties so can be used as an all round product:
- It has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties and can be used to treat and heal minor skin abrasions; minor cuts and scrapes, bruises, burns, insect bites, rashes, and sunburn and skin infections.
- It can be used on babies and children too showing how organic and gentle it is.
- It also has nourishing and emollient properties giving it benefits for use in skin and hair care products.
The bottle is a good size compared to other brands, especially for the price of £16.95 for 100ml (Get 10% off with the code below). Some brands are very expensive for a tiny bottle. The only negative element I think is the label is a bit dull, but I am a graphic designer so packaging is something that I am always critical about. On a positive though it has a pump lid, which allows you to keep the bottle nice and clean and get all the oil out without wasting or dropping any. One pump gives you enough oil for your face and neck. I can imagine this bottle will last quite a while too as a little goes a long way.
The oil has a light texture. It applies well, with the skin absorbing the oil quickly. I apply it to my forehead, face and finally down my neck. I have been using my fingers to massage the oil into my skin. I pay particular attention to my fine lines and areas I feel are starting to show signs of aging such as my forehead. My skin really glows after I have applied it and it does not leave my skin feeling or looking oily which is something I was a bit worried of when I started using the face oil.
After just 2 weeks I have seen a significant difference in the appearance and feel of my skin. My skin looks brighter and overall healthier. My skin was looking a bit dull after the winter months, but is now starting to glow more. It has really helped my dry areas, which I tend to get around the edges of my face and nose. One thing that I have been impressed by is that the Moringa Oil has not increased the oil on my T-zone. When I touch my skin it feels soft and well balanced. I can’t really say I have seen a difference in my fine lines as it has only been 2 weeks but I will continue to use it and see if they become less visible.
This product was supplied to me free, but my review is honest and truthful and I am happy to say I would definitely recommend this product. I feel it has made a big improvement to my skin and after continuous use I believe it will really help to keep my skin balanced and looking healthy.
