Clinique Beyond Perfecting™ Foundation and Concealer Review

For the past few days I have been using the new Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer by Clinique. It has had good reviews online and I really like Clinique products so thought I would try it and review it for you. I went to Debenhams and they colour matched my skin and gave me a free 10-day trial.

clinique foundation

£25.00 from www.clinique.co.uk

It claims to be:

  • A “foundation-and-concealer in one for a natural, beyond perfected look that lasts all day.”
  • Lightweight & moisturising
  • Doesn’t clog pores and allows skin to breathe
  • Adapts to skin tones and leaves a flawless finish all day
  • Suitable for ALL skin types.
  • Natural-Matte finish

My Verdict:

Application: This foundation applied very heavily. I do not wear heavy foundations; I can’t stand feeling it sitting on my skin. Clinique claims it allows skin to breath but I disagree with this claim. It was not a lightweight foundation on my skin. I applied it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and buffed it into my skin. As this foundation is such a full coverage, I did not need to use concealer, which was good. I found it sat in the fine lines around my eyes though. It did have a matte finish, but again this was not really suitable for my skin. I like it a bit dewy as I feel matter finishes emphasize my fine lines and aging skin.

Shade: This foundation is available in a huge range of 28 shades, which is great for a wide range of skin tones. I have the shade 02 Alabaster. I felt this was a good shade for me. I went to the counter and they matched the colour for me which is better than getting it off the Internet as I always order the wrong colour!

Durability: This is a tricky one as I never left the foundation on longer than half an hour, as it just felt too heavy on my skin. So I can’t really say whether it lasts well throughout the day.

Overall Opinion:

This foundation was not suitable for my skin. HOWEVER, it is a very good foundation and if you are someone who likes a heavier coverage, I think you will LIKE this foundation. I would compare it to MAC studio fix or Estee Lauder Double Wear. It has the thicker consistency like these foundations. I prefer Clinique Superbalanced™ Silk Makeup, which is a much lighter coverage and hydrates my skin whilst controlling my oily T-Zone.

  1. It’s a shame this is quite a heavy product as I love the sound of it except that it’s heavy and I’m a fan of the foundations that’s your compared it to. X
