Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! Foundation Review

I love Benefit products especially the cheek products such as the blushers, highlighters and Hoola bronzer. I never really liked their foundations and tended to stick to MAC. However, a few months back I trialled two of Benefit’s foundations. You can read the post here: Benefit Foundation and Primer Review. At the end I actually loved both and went off and purchased the Play Stick and I use this when I go on a night out or want a heavier foundation.

A few weeks back I bought the Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow! Foundation too. I have been using it now for 2 weeks so thought I would write a more in-depth review for you.

It claims to be:

  • A brightening liquid foundation that builds from light to medium coverage
  • Gives a natural complexion making the skin more luminous & healthy looking.
  • Oil-free
  • Has hydrating benefits
  • Contains SPF 25 PA+++

My Verdict:

 Application: This foundation applies lovely. I have combination skin with dry areas and an oily T-Zone. I was worried at first that as it was a hydrating foundation it may make my oily areas worse but it does not. It leaves a slight dewy look to my skin but not oily or greasy. As I have become older I have noticed that matte finish skin products do not flatter my skin so this is perfect for me. It has a light-medium finish. I apply it with a Kabuki Brush and buff it into my skin.

I apply one coat all over then a second coat to my nose, cheeks and chin to cover any redness. It builds well and you can add more if you want a fuller coverage. I wear it in the day and as you all know if you follow my blog, I hate heavy full foundations. I do not like to feel my make-up sat on my skin. This feels fine. I don’t feel like I have foundation on.

Shade: The Hello Flawless foundation is available in 5 shades. I don’t feel there is a wide selection of shades available, especially for darker and fairer skin. I wear “Ivory – fair believe in me” which is interesting as I have medium skin so I never usually buy Ivory shades. The shade however suits me perfect. I have not noticed it oxidizing or changing throughout the day at all. I would recommend going to a beauty counter and getting a consultation by the assistant as it is quite expensive and ordering off the Internet could be tricky with the colours.

Durability: It lasts really well. After applying, I set it with the Benefit Hello Flawless! Powder, which I also love. I feel they both work well together and compliment each other. It lasts about 10-11 hours. After that I notice it has come off my nose a bit. Sometimes on hotter days I will add my setting powder during the day to my nose and t-zone, but very rarely.

Overall Opinion:

 I absolutely LOVE the hello Flawless foundation. I have actually had compliments when wearing it with my friends saying how my skin looks glowing and really healthy! It does brighten the skin as they suggest and it applies lovely. It lasts well and feels nice on the skin. I like the fact you can also build it up. I don’t think I would not wear it on a night out though and would opt for a heavier foundation such as the Benefit PlayStick. I feel that in a hot environment like a club or busy pub it would possibly make my t-zone a bit oily. If you are someone who has quite oily skin you may find this is too hydrating and may make you a bit oilier even though it is oil free. It is a bit pricey at £29.00 but I think it is perfect for the day and I will continue to wear it.
