I had never considered Lush skincare products before. To be honest, I never really went in the shop as it was always so busy and I found the smell of the bath bombs a bit overpowering.
A while back however, I was out shopping with a friend and she told me how she loved the Lush skincare range. She has very sensitive skin and has no irritations at all from the products. She swears by them. So, I went in and spoke with a really nice girl who explained all the different products and asked me questions about my skin. I ended up buying the Tea Tree Toner Water to try.
I have now been using the toner water for about 10 months. I really like it. So, when I needed more, I also decided to buy a cleanser to try too. I chose the Angels on Bare Skin fresh cleanser as it was for all skin types and quite gentle on the skin.
For those that are not fully aware of Lush, they are a brand that make fresh handmade cosmetics using organic natural ingredients. They fight against lots of ethical issues too such as testing on animals and protecting the environment with 100% of their packaging being easily recyclable, compostable or biodegradable. They also support lots of charities. A truly inspirational company and brand.
Lush Tea Tree Toner Water
£8.95 for 250g from https://uk.lush.com
This is a clear toner water containing Tea Tree, Grapefruit and Juniperberry water. It comes in a large spray bottle making it really easy to apply.
- Keep skin clean and refreshed
- Antibacterial so helps fight bacteria and build up of spots
- Contains Grapefruit and Juniperberry which contains vitamins and antiseptic to keep skin clear
- Excellent for refreshing skin or to remove traces of makeup and cleanser
This is a really refreshing toner. I spray it onto my skin after cleansing and then use a cotton pad to gently wipe it around my face. I have combination skin so was worried it would dry out my dry areas as it contains tea tree but it does not leave my face tight at all and keeps oily areas matte. I even use it to spray on my skin in hot weather which is really refreshing. I fully agree with all claims.
I think it is a great price at £8.95. The bottle lasted me about 6 months. I have tried other toners over that period but they are not as good as this Lush one. I love the ethos of the brand too. The packaging is cute and eye catching in simple black. This is to keep all manufacturing to a minimum. I especially like that there is a sticker on each product telling you who packed your product. Really giving it a personal feel.
Angels on Bare Skin Fresh Cleanser
£7.35 for 100g from https://uk.lush.com
This is a thick natural cleanser made from 100% natural ingredients including lavender, chamomile, ground almonds and rose. It comes in a little black pot. When you finish the pot, keep it safe because when you return 5 empty to the shop you receive a free face mask.
- It will absorb grease and dirt leaving skin nourished and refreshed
- Calm the skin
- Tones and brightens the skin
It took me a while to get use to this cleanser as I am a bit of a neat freak and this is a bit messy to use. It is like a dry oatmeal like mixture with bits of grain mixed in. You take a small lump of the cleanser in your hand and add a little water to mix it into a paste. You then gently rub it into your skin. It can be used on the face or body. I found the best way to apply it was when I am in the shower. That way if it drops anywhere it doesn’t matter. It is quite gritty and thick so I really feel like it fully cleanses my skin. I gently massage it into my face and then rinse it off with warm water. I then pat it dry with a towel. I follow by using the Tea Tree Toner Water.
My skin feels so lovely and refreshed after the cleanser and especially when I add the toner water. You have to be careful though as the cleanser is a natural product so there is a use by date on it. It is a little bit pricey at £7.35 but a little goes a long way and this pot will allow many uses. I have been using it twice a week and still have lots left.
I am really enjoying using the Lush products and I am looking forward to trying some more products. I especially like the look of the face masks.
