With the hot weather, I find my skin changes and I need a complete new Summer Makeup Routine. My liquid foundation, goes oily, feels heavier on my skin and doesn’t last as long. I also catch the sun and my skin tone no longer matches the colours I have been wearing through the Winter. So, I thought I would share my Summer Makeup Routine with you. I have listed them in the order I apply them. As always, I have fully cleansed, toned and moisturised before applying my makeup.
Primer: MAC Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage
£21.50 from www. http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk
This is a lightweight gel primer that evens out my skin tones, hydrates my skin and adds radiance. I apply it with my fingers all over my face. I tend to only wear this under powder foundations as I usually find a matte primer works better when I am wearing liquid foundations. This makes my skin still look glowy and natural even though I am wearing a powder foundation on top.
Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid
£19.00 from: Feelunique*
This is a lightweight formula that instantly colour-corrects the dark circles under my eyes. It helps to brighten and illuminate my under-eye area. I apply it under my eyes using an ELF Concealer Brush. You can read my full review here. You can see my full review here.
MAC Studio fix Powder Plus foundation
£23.50 from www. http://www.maccosmetics.co.uk
This is a matte finish medium foundation. I buff it into my skin with a Zoeva 106 Powder Brush, which is a big soft brush. You can see my review on this brush here. You can build it up to a heavier coverage if you wish. I actually find that the larger brush allows me to apply it lightly, making it a more natural finish and not cake up as many powder foundations tend to do. This is so quick to apply, which is great as I cannot be bothered spending ages applying my makeup in the hot weather. I wear the shade N20.
The Balm Bahama Mama Bronzer
£17.50 from: Feelunique*
This is a great matte bronzer that looks great on most skin tones. I apply it with a Real Technique Blush Brush which is a tapered large soft brush. I apply it across my cheeks, under my cheek bones as a slight contour, up the sides of my nose and across my forehead. You can read my full review about this bronzer here.
Too Faced Sweet Peach Glow Peach-infused Highlighting Palette
£34.00 from www.toofaced.com
I love the Too Faced Sweet Peach products and they have featured in lots of my recent posts as I genuinely use them every day. Using the same Real Techniques Blush Brush, I apply the bronzer over my Bahama Mama bronzer. I find this bronzer is not enough on its own. It adds a subtle glow but I like a bit on tone and definition which the Bahama Mama provides. I then apply the blusher on the apples of my cheeks and the highlighter across my cheekbones and down my nose. All with the same blush brush. You can read my full review on the Sweet Peach Glow Palette here.
Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray
£23.50 for 118ml or travel size 30ml for £10.00 from Feelunique*
This is a recent addition to my routine that I cannot live without. I have just posted on this. It is just fantastic. I spray it across my face and leave it to set. Firstly, it takes the powder look away from my powder foundation, making it look more natural. Secondly it keeps my makeup in place all day and I mean still looking good after 8 hours! Perfect for Summer and the heat. You can read the full review here.
Benefit Gimme Brow
£20.00 from Benefit*
Benefit’s Gimmw Brow has been a staple in my posts and daily routine for a couple of years now. My eyebrows are simply dreadful. They are super thin after years of plucking as a teenager. I brush this through and it adds tiny fibres that latch onto your hairs and make the brow look thicker. It also adds colour and sets the brows in place. I wear shade 3 Medium.
Two Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette
£34.00 from www.toofaced.com
For my regular followers, this was an obvious part of my routine as I simply love this eyeshadow palette. Ever since I bought it, I have worn it every single day. The colours are gorgeous, pigmented and last all day. Plus, the palette smells of peaches. I tend to apply a colour over the whole lid with a fluffy brush to add a subtle colour wash to the eye lid. I especially like the shades Cobbler and Peach Pit. You can read my full review here.
Essence Lash Princess False Effect Mascara
£3.30 from Wilko
This is such a great mascara and just so cheap. I use this all the time. I find it beats a lot of my high-end mascaras hands down. It applies well, adding volume with no clumping and lasts all day. You can read my full review here.
Vaseline Lip Therapy in Rosy Lips
£2.00 from Chemists
I finish with lip balm. I apply this several times a day throughout the summer to keep my lips really moisturised. I like the Rose version as it has a slight pink tint to it, so leaves the lips with a flush of natural pink colour.
