October Birchbox Review

October Birchbox Beauty Box

It’s that time of the month again when my lovely little Birchbox treat arrives on my doorstep. This month, I have to say is a great box too! It is in honour of Breats Awareness month and is supported by CoppaFeel! – a charity who are trying to stamp out late detection of breast cancer. The overall theme of the box I ‘Feel Good’ and it comes full of exciting products to give you a boost and make you feel good as the cold weather approaches.

As always, the box is gorgeous with a marble pink and purple outer case and purple inside draw. I really love that this box has a draw and be used afterwards for storing all your makeup. There are 5 products, 1 full size and 2 Birchbox exclusives.

Contour Stick by ModelCo

Trial size – Full size RRP £8.00

Contour Stick by ModelCo

ModelCo’s Contour Stick is a creamy brown contour stick. It is a handy pen style allowing you to easily draw on the contour lines and then blends in really easily with both a brush and makeup sponge. This has a lovely texture and applies nicely but the is a bit orange for me and very warm toned.

Pure Skin Face Wash by Balance Me

Trial size – Full size RRP £16.00

Pure Skin Face Wash by Balance Me

This is a lovely product. I applied it to my damp face and worked it in to remove all makeup and cleanse my skin. It is a smooth cream that doesn’t soap up. It is 99% natural with Spruce knot extract, grapefruit and frankincense to sooth, refresh and rebalance the skin. It has a lovely citrus smell. The only problem I did have was that I found my forehead was quite dry after using it. I have used a few products from Balance Me and they are a great brand for natural skincare. This face wash is quite steep at £16.00 though.

Grab your Melons Shower Gel by Anatomicals

Full size RRP £1.50

Grab your Melons Shower Gel by Anatomicals

Firstly, the name Grab your Melons Shower Gel is just brilliant. It is encouraging women to feel their breasts whilst in the shower to look for any irregularities. This shower gel has a lovely zesty smell and lathers ups nicely. This is a really nice shower gel that didn’t dry out my skin and is an absolute bargain at £1.50. It is a Birchbox exclusive so you can only purchase it from Birchbox – the link is at the bottom of this post.

Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste by R + Co

Trail size – Full Size RRP £22.00

Badlands Dry Shampoo Paste is new to me. I have never heard of a dry shampoo paste before so was intrigued to try it. You apply it to 2nd day hair by rubbing a small amount between your palms and then focusing it on the roots. You can also smooth a little bit through damp hair before blow drying to add volume. My hair is very flat so I am looking forward to trying this. It contains Hawaiian volcano ash to cleanse the scalp, zeolite powder to absorb oil and lots of natural oils to leave hair silky soft. I have applied it to 2nd day hair and found it was good at absorbing the oils, but it did leave my scalp a bit dry.

Three Whishes Body Butter Almond by Whish

Trial Size – Full Size RRP £16.70

Three Whishes Body Butter Almond by Whish

Finally, the last product is an organic body butter. It contains aloe, shea and raspberry butter to nourish and soften the skin along with extracts of seaweed to firm and protect. It leaves my skin feeling really nice. It smells of marzipan so is a bit sweet.

I feel this is a great box this month. I will use all the products bar probably the contour stick as it is simply the wrong shade. All products are great quality and apply nicely. I am off on holiday at the end of the month so I will be packing these products as they are the perfect size for travelling.

All the products in the box can be bought on the Birchbox website. Or subscribe and treat yourself.
