January Birchbox Review

As we settle down after the excitement from Christmas and we hit miserable January I was excited to see the arrival of a bright exciting Birchbox on my door step yesterday. The theme this month is ‘Shake your Pom Pom’ and is designed to cheer you up on the gloomy January days.

The box as usual has a gorgeous design and has a great collection of products inside. Enjoy my review…

Essence Moonlighter Cushion by CLE Cosmetics

Full size product RRP: £22.00

This is a luminescent highlighter. It is available in two shades. The colour I received was Apricot Tinge, which is a golden peach colour. This is a lovely highlighter. It has a spongy cushion feeling which is quite useful usual for a highlighter as I have only ever used hard powder or liquid versions. It is a full size. I am very impressed with the packaging which is a hard case with a mirror and powder puff. It is quite shimmery and pigmented and you just dab it onto your cheek bones. As it is a cushion based product it is quite cooling once applied which feels nice.

Cleansing Bar by Dr. Botanicals

Full size product RRP: £5.90

This is a cleansing bar available in 3 variations. I received the pomegranate bar which is a bright pink colour. They claim this is gentle enough for your face or body. It can cleanse, exfoliate and restore your natural glow. It is made of 98% natural ingredients. I have not used this yet but will let you know my thoughts in an Instagram post. I love a good cleanser and this is a great price for this bar as it is a good size. I find a cleansing bar is great when traveling.

Flaky/itchy scalp shampoo by Philip Kingsley

Trial size / full size RRP: £24.00

This is an interesting product. It is a shampoo that cleanses your scalp to make it soft and stop irritations and lets the hair grow stronger and shine. It has great reviews so I am looking forward to try this as I am someone who suffers with itchy scalp. It is quite expensive at £24.00 but as you only apply it to your scalp it should last longer than a normal shampoo. Again I will post on my Instagram the results.

Facial Micro Scrubber by Afterspa

Full size product RRP: £7.00

This is a duel textured facial cloth that has a pocket for you to pop you fingers in to allow you to really scrub your face. You apply your cleanser then use this cloth to rub and cleanse your skin. It removes oil, makeup and gently exfoliates the skin. I really like this facial cloth. It is really easy to use and has a little ribbon tag allowing you to hang it up to dry when you are finished.

Maxlash Volumizer Mascara by Doucce

Trial size / Full size RRP: £18.00

This is a cute little mascara sample. I have not tried this yet as I am still using the mascara sample from the last box. It claims this is a carbon black mascara that will add depth, length and dimension to your lashes. I love trying new brands I have not used before and Birchbox is perfect for this.

Pom Pom Hair Ties by Birchbox

Birchbox exclusive

These are cute hair ties. If I’m Honest once my 9 year old daughter sees these I think she will pinch them from me as they are super cute.

Again another exciting box from Birchbox. They are all exciting products, 3 are full size too which is great. You can subscribe to the box or purchase individual products from the Birchbox site.

Usually the box is £10.00 + £2.99 postage however you can get your first box for £5 (+£2.95 P&P) & 20% off everything in the Birchbox shop with code HUGDAY from Monday 21st January until midnight on Tuesday 22nd January.

The products are worth a lot more than this. If you want to sign up to Birchbox or buy any of the products from their store, click here.
