My Body Shop Makeup Series continues today with a look at their bronzers and highlighters. They have a great range of different types of bronzing products so there will be something for everyone. I hope you enjoy my review…
£16.00 for 8.5g
- Illuminates your face with a sun kissed glow
- Colours can be swirled together or used seperately
- Can be used all over the face for contouring and highlighting
- 3 shades available
I tired the shade 01 Bronze which is a bronzy highlighter shade. It has a shimmer effect. It applied nicely to the skin and is buildable to intensify the colours. I like the idea of this product. To be able to use all the colours on their own or swirl them together t give the skin an overall glow is really handy, especially when traveling. It is a really nice product.
£9.00 for 6.5g
- Adds a natural looking flush of warm shimmer to skin
- Suitable for all skin tones
- Creamy, lightweight texture
- Delicious honey fragrance
- 3 Shades
I have actually reviewed the Honey Bronze Highlighting Dome on my blog before. Today I tried two shades; 01 and 02. The shade 01 is a champagne coloured highlighter and the 02 is a pinky blusher colour. They can be applied in a variety of ways; using your finger, with a brush or direct with the dome itself. I found the highlighter was really glowed on my skin and had a lot of shimmer. I am quite boring with my highlighter and like it quite subtle so this was a bit much for me, however, if you like a highlighter to have impact then you will like this product. It will look nice on tanned skin. I really liked the pink blush colour. I applied it with the dome onto my cheeks then used my fingers to blend it in. It leaves a nice natural flushed bit of colour to the cheeks. It is also buildable.
Bronze Brush on Beads
£14.00 for 28g
- Creates a beach bronzed look
- Perfect for Illuminating the face
This was a bit of a blast from the past as I use to use these when I was a teenager. I used them for years and really loved them. They apply lovely. I use a big fluffy brush. They look quite shimmery in the pot but once applied they look natural and leave a subtle bronze colour on the skin. They blend well and are buildable for a stronger colour. Be careful not to drop the beads though. I remember many a time dropping them on the carpet and not realising until I stepped on them and stained my floor! I do like these bronzing beads though, they are a really nice product and would suit all skin tones. They also last for ages so are great value for money.
Baked to Last Bronzer
£16.00 for 9g
- Creates a natural sun kissed glow
- Long lasting – 8 hours
- Pretty subtle shimmer
This is a baked product so is quite compact and hard to touch. I found this product very subtle and it took quite a few attempts to get a decent amount of glow on the skin. It is a golden shimmer colour. It is nice but I preferred the bronzing beads.
Universal Bronzing Balm
£14.00 for 9g
- Creates a sun kissed glow
- Smooth creamy skin nourishing balm
- Blend well
- Leaves a luminous and subtle shimmer to skin
This is a cream bronzer. It has a really lovely creamy texture. It is very similar to the Chanel one that everyone raves about. It is subtle but very buildable. It can be applied using a brush for a subtle finish or you can use your fingers for more of an impact. It comes in a nice packaging and can be kept in your handbag to top up throughout the day. I tried this product a few times before I actually made my mind up about it. It is a nice product and many people will love this, but I prefer powder bronzers.
Honey Bronze Drops of Sun
£12.00 for 15ml
- Can be blended with moisturiser of foundation
- Creates a holiday glow to the skin
I was quite scared to use this at first as it is a very dark brown liquid. It can be used in two ways. You can add a drop to your foundation to darken the shade, which is really handy if you skin is tanned and your foundation looks to light. You can also use it with foundation to create a darker shade to apply as a contours shade. Or you can add a drop to your moisturiser and this is the way I have been using it. It creates a lovely natural glow and subtle tan to your face. I do this on no makeup days and it makes my skin look great. The packaging it good too. It comes in a glass bottle with a droplet on the lid allowing you to easily drop it on to your hand. I have now bought this product as I love it.
Drops of Glow Lustre Finish Creator
£12.00 for 15ml
- A versatile strobing product
- Can be added direct to skin, into foundation or to moisturiser
- Adds a glow to your skin
This is a white, champagne coloured liquid. Like the Drops of sun it is a versatile product that can be added direct to your skin or added to your foundation or moisturiser. I tried all methods but preferred to dab it onto my cheek bones once my foundation was done. I really like this product. It adds a lovely subtle highlight, blends well and feels nice on the skin. I actually have the Benefit High Beam and this is exactly the same as this product. However the Benefit one is £18.50 for only 10ml. So the Body Shop Drops of Glow is good value for money.
Overall I was super impressed with all the Body Shop Bronzing products. They are excellent quality and great value for money compared to the higher priced brands. I think there is a product for everyone, depending on what you like.
