Well, the last Glossybox of the year has arrived and as always it contains a range of beauty products. This month is focusing on the festive season. You had a choice with this month’s box. You could choose either a neutral lipstick themed box or a rich plum lipstick themed box. I actually chose the neutral theme but got sent the darker set, but not to worry this is still a good box. I must say as well, the box this month is gorgeous. I have been collecting all my boxes for the past 18 months as I am about to start renovating my house and I am planning on using all my boxes in a creative way to store my makeup in my new bedroom.
There are 5 products in this box, 4 are full size and one trial size.
Semi Matte Lipstick in Vamp by MDM Flow
Trial size RRP:£18 from www.mdmflow.com
This is a rich pigmented semi matte lipstick in a dark plum colour. It looks quite red on this swatch but it is actually a lot darker when applied to lips. It has a lovely gold shiny bullet style packaging. The actual lipstick has a thick creamy texture and glides on fine from the bullet. I would recommend wearing a lip liner though as it bled at the edges of my lips slightly. This is a trial size but to me the lipstick looks full size.
Light up your Face Luminizer palette by Essence
Full size RRP: £3.00 from www.essence.co.uk
This trio of highlighting powders give a range of shimmery shades; a light champagne, a pearly pink and a golden glow. They can be used separately or all worn together. They apply lovely, not too shimmery which I like as it allows you to build them up gradually. I apply them to the cheekbones and down my nose. I think these are amazing value for £3.00.
Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder by Collection Cosmetics
Full size RRP £4.19 from www.boots.com
This is a powder based liquid that you apply to your eyebrows in little strokes to add definition. It claims that the powder contains tiny fibres that add volume to your lashes. This looks like an eyeliner when you open it and be careful when you open it as the powder/liquid shot everywhere all over my computer when I took the lid off! I have not tried this on my brows yet. If I’m honest it scares me a bit. I am not into this harsh bold brow trend. My brows are quite thin from over plucking as a teenager in the 90s. I now use a brow pencil to fill them in and apply Benefits Gimme Brow, which is one of the products I could not live without, so I am not sure I will take to this product. I will repost when I have tried it out for a bit.
Lipcote by Lipcote
Full size RRP: £3.99 from www.lipcote.com
This brings back memories for me. I remember using this as a teenager. This is a sealer for lipstick and it claims to stop your lipstick smudging or feathering and makes it last a lot longer. After you apply your lipstick you paint this across your lips and allow it to dry. The brush is like a nail polish brush. It has a very strong chemical like smell which I’m not keen on, but if it is as good as it was years ago I remember it use to make my lipstick stay put for hours. I have not as yet tried this.
Nail Enamel in Valentine by Revlon
Full Size RRP £6.49 from www.superdrug.com
This is without a doubt my favourite item in this box. I really like Revlon nail polishes. I think they apply well and last a long time. I absolutely LOVE this colour. It is my perfect shade of red and will look fab for the Christmas season. It claims the chip resistant ultra glossy finish will last up to 10 days. I will test it out and let you all know. I can see myself wearing this all the time. It dries quickly too which is a bonus.
I have mixed feelings after looking through this month’s box. There are a couple of products I love but the rest I am not sure I will use. The nail polish and luminizer palette are good and I will probably use the Lipcote lip sealer too. The other products however are not really for me. I usually like most of the products in the Glossybox and I think many people will really enjoy all the products in this month’s box, they just weren’t for me.
