Today’s review is looking at two of Boots No7 skin tint range, No7 City Light Tinted Moisturiser and No7 Beautiful Skin BB Cream. This tinted moisturiser was recommended by several of my friends in a recent post “My Friends Summer Saviours: Part 2 Makeup”. You can read the post here.
Like many people, I do not like wearing heavy makeup in the summer so was intrigued to try the tinted moisturiser. Whilst shopping in Boots I also found the Beautiful BB Cream and decided to try this too. Both had a different outcome and I had mixed opinions. Boots recommend applying using a foundation brush or sponge. I used a kabuki brush and buffed the tinted moisturiser into my skin. It really moisturised my skin and left a really dewy finish. I found I needed a lot of the tinted moisturiser to cover my face as it absorbed quite quickly. It left my skin with a very sheer colour as per the claims. It does still show all blemishes and redness so if you are someone who worries about your skin not looking even, then I think you would find this was not enough coverage for you. However, if you are happy with your skin and simply want a better looking natural skin, then you will really like this tinted moisturiser. It made my skin look good, glowing with a slight tint. I feel if you have oily skin you might find this to oily for you throughout the day.
No7 City Light Tinted Moisturiser is available in 3 shades: Fair, Medium and Dark They provide a really handy guide on their website. I have listed it below. I chose Medium as I am a natural beige foundation colour usually. The colour was a good match for me and blended in well with my natural skin.
Light – Calico, Cool Vanilla, Warm Ivory, Deeply Ivory and Cool Ivory
Medium – Warm beige, Beige, Cool Beige, Deeply Beige, Soft Rose, Honey and Cool Honey
Dark – Honey, Cool Honey, Wheat, Warm Sand, Cool Rose and Latte
Overall, I was happy with how my skin felt and looked after using the No7 City Light Tinted Moisturiser however, I can achieve this effect from just using my facial oil and a good moisturiser. The coverage was not enough for me to justify wearing the tinted moisturiser, if that makes sense. When I cleaned my face using my Garnier Micellar Water there was so much coloured product on the cotton pad, that I felt my skin would be better without the tinted moisturiser as it did not provide enough coverage.

I have wanted to try a BB cream for a while now as I had read many good reviews about different ones. They are basically in between a tinted moisturiser and a foundation. BB stands for Blemish Balm or Blemish Base. It is lighter than a foundation, but still provides coverage. They also tend to have nutrients in to help the skin.
- A unique 3-in-1 formula that evens and enhances skin tone and disguises imperfections
- A nutrient-enriched formula to help banish blemishes.
- SPF 15 and 5 * UVA technology to help skin stay youthful
I applied the Beautiful Skin BB Cream to my face using my Kabuki brush and buffed it into my skin. It had a really nice consistency, lighter than a foundation but still very hydrating and moisturising. It blended well and left a really nice coverage on my skin. It did not absorb into my skin as quick as the tinted moisturiser. It still leaves a very natural finish and shows some uneven areas, but I applied concealer to the areas that needed the extra coverage, which is better than applying a heavier foundation all over.
There are three types of BB cream available in 3 shades, I chose the Normal/Oily Skin version in Medium. The colour suited me perfectly.
I really liked the Beautiful Skin BB Cream. I preferred it to the City Light Tinted Moisturiser. It gave me more coverage but still felt nice on my skin. It reminded me of MAC Face and Body which I love and use all the time. Although, it was for Normal/Oily skin it did leave a slight dewy finish, so I applied my NYX Studio Finish Powder to set my oily areas. You can see a full review of that here. My face stay set all day. This is great for daytime, but I would need a slightly heavier finish for a night out or special occasion.
