Today’s post focuses on what I think is my absolute favourite foundation of all time. This is a big title to give a foundation as I try so many different ones, but this one never lets me down. The foundation I am talking about is the cult favourite MAC Face and Body foundation. This is a staple foundation in most makeup artist’s kits and is used on many catwalk models. I have used it for many years and even when I am trying others I always come back to it. So today I thought I would write a little review and explain why I like it so much and why it works perfectly for my skin.
MAC describe it as “A lightweight foundation that delivers a natural satin finish and sheer coverage” and this is exactly what it is. Firstly, if you are someone who likes full coverage then you will not enjoy this foundation. It has a very sheer coverage, which is actually why I like it so much. It is like fresh air on your face. You genuinely cannot feel it when you have applied it. I cannot stand it when I feel the foundation on my face. For that reason, I do not like MAC Studio Fix foundation. I feel like I am wearing a mask. This foundation is buildable so you can build it up to a medium coverage in the places you need it. I tend to add a layer of this all over my face and then add concealer to the areas I want more coverage.
It has a satin finish so people with oily skin need to apply a good setting powder on top. I apply my powder just to my T-zone. I find most powders work fine, be it loose powder or pressed.
- Long wearing / 8 hours
- Water resistance
- For all skin types including sensitive skin
- Dermatologist tested
- Non agnegenic
This foundation lives up to most of these claims although I wouldn’t say it lasts up to 8 hours. I usually find after a day at work it has rubbed of my nose a little, but on the whole, it still looks great. With regards to water resistance I have not tested this as I do not wear any makeup when I go swimming or to the beach.
It is available in a good range of colours with 15 shades for cool to warm toned skin. I wear the shade N2.
It has a very watery consistency so you have to give it a really good shake before you use it. For years I have used it with a kabuki brush and buffed it into my skin, but recently I watched a YouTube video and it changed my whole application process. I now apply it to my face using my fingers and tap it into my skin. I then massage it into the face. It makes it look amazing. Completely flawless. And as clichéd as it sounds it really does just look like skin, my skin, but only better! It doesn’t sit in my fine lines and blends really well. My powder, bronzer and blusher all apply on top lovely.
I cannot sing praise for this foundation enough. I just LOVE it. And to still be loving it after maybe 3 or 4 years of use shows you how good it really is. My skin is quite dry with a slight oily T-Zone. This foundation works perfectly on my skin and looks great. Very natural and lightweight. It is not too expensive at £24.50 and the bottle lasts a long time.
I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments box if you have tried it or if you have similar foundations you love to use.
